Swaminarayan Kirtan

Our Purpose

A modern parab of kirtan pyasis

Dear Devotees,,

In the 39th Vachanamrut of Bhagwan Swaminarayan G.M., it is said, 'We trust the words of Vyasji, and Bhagwan Vyasji says in the 52nd verse of the 3rd chapter of the 12th canto of the Shrimad Bhagavatam: कृते यद् ध्यायतो विष्णु,त्रेतायां यजतो मखैः| द्वापरे परिचर्यायां कलौ तद् हरिकीर्तनात् || In Satya Yuga, meditation; in Treta Yuga, Yagna; in Dwapar Yuga, service; and in Kali Yuga, Hari Kirtan are the best means for attaining God. Moreover, Vyas Bhagwan said in the Adipurana: नाहं वसामि वैकुण्ठे,योगिनां हृदयेन च |मद्भक्ता यत्र गायन्ति,तत्र तिष्ठामि नारद || I do not dwell in Vaikuntha, nor in the hearts of Yogis. O Narad! Wherever my devotees sing my Kirtan, I reside there.' In this way, God has given immense importance to Kirtan Bhakti. Understanding this divine wish of Bhagwan, thousands of Kirtans were created and sung in the presence of Bhagwan Swaminarayan by Nand saints. At that time, there was no sound recording (recording) system, so the tunes of those Kirtans have been passed down through tradition. However, since the art of writing was already discovered, all Kirtans were preserved in written form. For nearly a hundred years, this treasure remained dormant, and only the tunes passed down through tradition were sung. But the famous singer of the Sampraday, Param Bhaktaraj Shri Chandubhai Rathod, was the first to undertake the divine task of setting these Kirtans, beyond the traditional ones, to music (Ragas). Therefore, if anyone deserves the early credit for this noble work, it is Shri Chandubhai Rathod. After this, a wave of awareness swept through the Sampraday. Many temples and organizations began printing the lesser-known Kirtans of the Sampraday and releasing their audio cassettes in new Ragas. Among those contributing significantly to setting these new Kirtans to music, the greatest credit goes to the famous current singer of the Sampraday, Param Bhaktadiya Shri Hasmukhbhai Prabhudasbhai Patadiya.

Our Purpose!......

Dear Devotees,,......

Our purpose for creating this website is to ensure that the kirtans composed by Nand saints and other devotee poets of the Sampraday, in both written and sung forms, are easily accessible to all followers of the Sampraday. Currently, a large number of kirtans are being recorded and gaining popularity in the Sampraday from various sources. However, it is very difficult to know where and by whom a particular kirtan has been released. To address this issue, this website has been created. On this website, all kirtans related to the Sampraday will be available in written form, and if available, you will also be able to listen to the recordings. Apart from this, there is much more information related to kirtans available on this website. To find out what information you can get from this website, click the help button on the top right.
